Live: Aussies march on to Singapore semis

AUSTRALIA has grinded out a 7-5 win over Spain to advance to the cup semifinals at the Singapore Sevens.

Tim Walsh’s side will play the winner of the England v Samoa quarterfinal tonight (7.12pm AEST).

The impressive Ben O’Donnell scored Australia’s only try of a tough quarterfinal against surprise packets Spain.

Fiji will play South Africa in the first semifinal at 6.50pm tonight AEST.

Olympic champions Fiji came from behind to beat New Zealand 24-19 in a thrilling quarterfinal while world champions South Africa were too strong for Kenya, winning 24-12.

Australia went through day one unbeaten as they rolled past Scotland, New Zealand and Wales.

It is Walsh’s first tournament as coach since switching over from the women’s program.
