eBay: Rarest 50p coin selling for a huge sum – what is the value of the Kew Gardens 50p?

Rare coins like the Kew Gardens 50p coin sell for huge sums of money on sites such as eBay.

The Kew Gardens 50p coin is the rarest currently in circulation in the UK.

There are only 210,000 in Britain, so collectors are always very keen to get their hands on them.

This coin has a scarcity rating of 100 on Change Checker, the highest rating possible.

However, this version of the coin is much rarer as it is the special Piedfort silver proof version.

This coin has been sold by seller London123-123 on the auction.

They said of the piece: “Rare boxed which hard to find and it’s only made in total 3500.” [sic]

After a whopping 33 bids where made on the coin, it was eventually sold for £440.

Royal Mint said of the design: “In 2009 the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew marked its 250th anniversary as a botanical garden and The Royal Mint was proud to join in the celebrations with a splendid commemorative design.

“The reverse design, created by Christopher Le Brun RA, featured the famous Chinese Pagoda at Kew with a decorative leafy climber twining in and around the tower.”

The Kew Gardens 50p coin has sold for huge amounts of money online before.

Although this is the rarest coin in the UK, some attempt to sell other 50p coins for huge amounts of money online.

One seller has listed a Battle of Hastings 50p coin on eBay for a whopping £2 million.

A more realistic sold an Olympic Triathlon 50p coin for £600 recently.

The coin, which sold on 9 November 2017, was purchased for the sum with one bid made.

Seller nicoljenkin46 from Bedworth made a tasty profit with this coin, but how rare is it, and could you have one?
