This weekend will be the first to feature World War 3 gameplay live on official public Steam servers.
It’s a big step for the development team at Farm 51, although it wasn’t without its hiccups.
Technical difficulties hampered the release for a few hours on Friday, leaving some player unable to access the full game.
This was linked to server issues and an endless loading screen bug that left players on the sidelines.
“We know that you experience problems connecting to our servers,” the development team wrote at the time.
“Over the next few minutes, we will upload an update, which should fix the problem. All you have to do is download it and re-enter the game.”
However, since then, World War 3 is now available to download and play on Steam Early Access.
The reviews are currently mixed on Steam right now, although a lot of negative ones appear to be connected to the early loading screen issue.
For those that don’t know, World War 3 is a multiplayer military FPS set in modern times.
Farm 51 says World War 3 has been produced “in cooperation with military R&D centres and consultants and shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map.”
Celebrating the release, Farm 51 thanked fans for their contribution, writing online: “We would like to once more thank all of our fans for their support during development! Thanks to you, World War 3 is now available in Early Access on STEAM!
“Our journey has just begun, and we hope that our community will help us improve with their crucial feedback.
“We strongly believe that your input is invaluable to make World War 3 the game you always wanted to play!
“Strong, tactical team play, national armed forces, real locations and a versatile customization system all contribute to the authenticity of the modern combat experience enhanced by other essential elements such as a robust ballistic system, advanced armours and real-life weapons.”
World War 3 is out now on Steam early access and is not currently available on PS4 or Xbox One.
