WATCH: Shocking moment man jumps from ‘110ft’ cruise ship balcony in dangerous stunt

Cruise ship line Royal Caribbean has banned a group of Canadian men from ever travelling with them again after one of them was filmed jumping off a balcony into the ocean. A video of the daredevil leap is rapidly going viral after it was posted to Instagram. Nick Naydev estimated he jumped from the eleventh floor of the 18-floor Symphony of the Seas, making it a leap of about ”110-120 feet.” Naydev did the perilous stunt while the cruise ship was docked in the Bahamas, USA.

“He’s jumped from those kinds of heights before, and we didn’t really care about the consequences with the cruise company,” Konstantin Kryachun, who filmed the clip, told Yahoo Lifestyle. “We just wanted to get a video of it and make it go viral.”

The Instagram video has accrued nearly 160,000 views. Naydev uploaded it to his account with the caption “Full send.”

It shows the group laughing as Naydev climbs onto the railing and leaping into the water. The moment of impact was not captured – the irony of which was not lost on viewers.

“I was still drunk from the previous night,” Naydev said on Instagram about the incident.

“When I woke up I just decided to jump. “My feet were actually fine. It was my neck and tailbone that hurt.”

Some viewers have criticised the man while others have been impressed. “You are SO STUPID. If people copy this and gets hurt, it’s all because of YOU!” one person wrote. Another commented: “Living legend.”

Naydev responded to one Instagram comment explaining he had been picked up from the water by a small boat.

In another post, he revealed how he felt afterwards: ”I could barely walk for 3 days because my ass hurt so bad,” he commented. “The flight home was a nightmare but I’m fine now.”

The act resulted in the ground being forbidden to sail with Royal Caribbean ever again, however.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson told “This was stupid and reckless behaviour.

“He and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again. We are exploring legal action.”

‘Balconing’ has been a rising trend since 2010 and has resulted in a number of deaths of young British tourists on holiday.

The Foreign Office has issued a warning on the website about the perils of the reckless stunt: “There have been a number of very serious accidents (some fatal) as a result of falls from balconies.

“Many of these incidents have involved British nationals and have had a devastating impact on those involved and their loved ones.

“Don’t take unnecessary risks around balconies, particularly if you’re under the influence of drink or drugs.

“Your travel insurance may not cover you for incidents that take place on a balcony or if you were under the influence of drink or drugs when it happened.”
