A viral video has emerged of a P&O cruise ship struggling in the strong storms.
The Ventura ship departed Southampton and it was during their journey through the Bay of Biscay that it faced extremely strong winds.
During the video, a group of passengers attempt to drink at their table as the ship is flung about.
The restaurant appears to be in carnage thanks to the storm.
Cutlery and crockery can be seen scattered all over the floor by some abandoned tables.
The serving staff are also clinging to the handrail in an attempt to stay on their feet.
Other passengers cling to each other while they stay sitting in their chair.
The man who uploaded the video explained how elderly passengers were thrown to the floor despite sitting down.
He revealed: “Seated passengers’ chairs toppled over spilling elderly passengers onto the floor.
“The listing was such, and becoming slowly worse, that I began to fear the ship may actually go over.”
A spokesperson for P&O Cruises explained: “We can confirm that the ship was transiting the Bay of Biscay in adverse weather and that a sudden gust of wind increased the wind to 100 knots.
“When the wind increased, the ship altered course to minimise the effect. P&O Cruises would never compromise the safety of its guests or crew.
“On occasion it is unfortunately necessary to sail in conditions which are less than ideal and if this occurs then we will do all we can to minimise the impact of the weather.
“The sea and weather are dynamic forces and any decisions taken are in compliance with company, flag and international regulations as well as in the observance of safe and good seamanship.”
A similar cruise storm was also caught on camera, this time with a Norwegian Cruise ship.
Waves as high as 30 feet hit the ship, terrifying passengers as they sailed through the Bahamas.
