The Walking Dead season eight: First-look photos tease MORE losses ‘Prepare for the worst’

Carl Grimes (played by Chandler Riggs) revealed that he had suffered a walker bite meaning that he will definitely die in upcoming episodes.

First-look photos have since emerged teasing the new series and it seems that things will go from bad to worse for the Alexandrians.

There’s not one smile in the second half of season eight as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his army prepare for Carl’s inevitable death.

The youngster is seen at one point on a stretcher and things do not look good for him, based on his feverish state.

He is cared for by Michonne (Danai Gurira) while poor dad Rick can do nothing but look on in horror at his dying son.

This comes as Johnny O’Dell, who does social media for The Walking Dead, confirmed that Carl’s death will not be brushed over.

He wrote in Skybound’s fan mailbag: “All we can say is when he DOES die the show will not brush over it. Prepare for the worst.

“We can’t divulge exactly how Rick grieves, but we can confirm Carl’s death impacts him more than any death since Lori.

“Unfortunately for Rick, Carl’s death comes at a horrible time. He’s in the middle of a war, his home was just destroyed, and Negan and The Saviors have a chokehold on his allied communities,” he confessed.

What’s more, the rest of the pictures, obtained by Entertainment Weekly, suggest that war will continue as the team try to continue despite their huge loss.

At one point, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) can be seen wading through a muddy swamp with multiple weapons in hand.

Is the beloved hero escaping danger or heading towards it?

As well, Morgan Jones (Lennie James) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) look decidedly suspicious as they hide behind a bus.

With the pair already dodging death multiple times throughout the first half of the season, will they be as lucky this time around?

Or will fans of the AMC zombie show have to deal with another brutal loss?

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on February 25 and will air on FOX UK the following day.
