Along with being banned from eating her favourite seafood on royal tours and garlic when in the company of the Queen, she has also had to give up another of her favourite meals.

According to royal chef Darren McGrady, pasta, rice and potatoes are all banned from the menu at Buckingham Palace.

The carb ban is a personal choice of the Queen’s, who prefers not to put them on the menu.

Pasta is reportedly one of Meghan Markle’s favourite foods, telling food magazine The New Potato in 2013 that a “leisurely dinner of seafood and pasta” was one of her favourite meal options.

Darren revealed the Queen’s no-carb preferences during an interview with Recipe Plus, saying she stays well clear of pasta and has never had rice or potatoes on the palace menu.

One royal that will surely be missing the Italian dish is Meghan, who along with being a self-confessed pasta lover, has also devised her own pasta recipes.

During an interview with, Meghan revealed her go-to meal, a pasta dish containing slow-cooked courgette.

The 36-year-old referred to the dish as “filthy, sexy mush”, coining it as one of her favourite recipes.

The dish is made by slow-cooking courgettes for at least four hours, turning them into a delectable mush that passes for an oil and butter-laden dish.

Despite their growing friendship, Meghan won’t be showing the Queen her famous courgette pasta dish anytime soon.

Along with banning pasta, rice, potatoes and garlic, the Queen also has some other strange dietary requirements, according to royal chef Darren.

Speaking to Recipes Plus, he continued: “We also couldn’t serve meat that was rare, as [Queen Elizabeth] liked her meat more well done.”

The chef also revealed the Queen’s go-to snack, a banana.

However Her Majesty eats the banana in a certain way, “she’ll cut off the bottoms and cut the banana lengthwise, and then cut the banana into tiny slices to eat with a fork,” Darren concluded.

On top of dietary restrictions, Meghan will also have to adjust the time she goes to bed to please the Royal Family, according to an expert.

Sir William Heseltine, one of the Queen’s private secretaries, revealed that no one is to go to bed before Her Majesty.

In an interview with the Telegraph he said “nobody felt it right to go to bed before the Queen did” when staying with her.

Hopefully the Queen is not a late night party animal, otherwise Meghan might find herself feeling a little tired.

One royal bride broke the rule on a number of occasions, Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.
