Airtasker – Australia’s largest marketplace for tasks recently conducted a survey around what factors influence who people trust and what professions people trusted the most. In their survey, they showed over 1000 respondents eight images of people of varying races and genders for different occupations. We then asked them how much they trusted each person

Here’s what they found:

  • Doctors rank the highest as trusted professionals, yet people are nearly 4% more likely to turn to female health care practitioners over male one
  • A male-dominated field? Only 55.9% of people admitted that they’d hire a female mechanic, which is below people’s general trust level of 61.7%
  • 4 in 5 people trust taxi drivers and ride-hailing services, though over 91% of people prefer the drivers to be black men
  • Despite the language barrier, over 89% of people prefer to hire Hispanic women for their house cleaning tasks
