Strictly Come Dancing: 'It was shock' Kevin Clifton drops Stacey Dooley winner bombshell

Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin joined Lorraine Kelly on her ITV chat show this morning to discuss his upcoming show All Star Musicals.

However it wasn’t long before talk turned to Kevin’s win on the popular BBC series alongside Stacey Dooley last year.

Lorraine commented: “You were so, what I love is your passion, you were so happy.”

“We just didn’t expect it,” Kevin explained. “We thought Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell were going to win, we were convinced.”

“Joe was so good and so lovely,” he continued.

The 36-year-old went on to reveal the reason why he believed he and Stacey wouldn’t lift the coveted Glitterball trophy.

“We just thought that was that as we were bottom of the leaderboard at the end of the final,” Kevin noted.

“When Tess called out our names it was genuine shock. I dropped down to the floor and Stacey’s mum invaded the pitch.”

When asked if he had any ideas who his next partner would be, Kevin admitted he was keen to get Lorraine on the show.

“I reckon, I know you’ve been saying to me you’d never do that but I reckon I could teach you to dance,” Kevin said.

However, he noted he may not win as no professional has triumphed two years in a row.

“Not in a row no. Aliona has won the Glitterall twice but no one has done it twice in a row,” Kevin commented.

The star also opened up about his marriage with fellow professional dancer Karen, which came to an end last year.

“We’re really good friends,” he told the host.

“I think cause we’ve still been dancing together, we did a tour together and were both on Strictly.

“It didn’t have to be argumentative, we thought let’s stay friends and work through it. It’s all good, we’re all fine.

“You know you’re always going to have love for each other.”

Later on the show, Call The Midwife star Laura Main teased she could sign up for the next series.

She joked she wanted to partner up with Kevin in the hope of helping him to win again.

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 8.30am.
