Strictly Come Dancing 2018: Ashley Roberts BREAKS DOWN in tears after Dirty Dancing lift

Ashley Roberts’ latest routine on featured the infamous lift from the hit movie which sees Baby lifted into the air.

Ashley had revealed she feared she would be unable to complete the lift in the VT which ran before her performance.

However, she had nothing to worry about as she performed the complicated routine with ease.

After finishing her routine, Ashley could be seen breaking down in tears as she was overcome with emotion.

Her professional partner Pasha Kovalev could be seen wrapping her in his arms as he lifted her into the air.

She could be heard sniffling as she realised she had managed to perform the lift with ease.

Ashley was then seen moving towards the judges for her critique as she wiped away tears.

Host Tess Daly was quick to comment on her tears asking: “Oh, are you all emotional?”

As Ashley quickly wiped at her eyes, she turned to Pasha who comforted her.

The former Pussycat Dolls star apologised for breaking down at the end of her routine before being stunned by the judges’ comments.

While Ashley may have left the judges impressed, many of those tuning into the BBC show at home were not happy.

Fans of the series claimed Ashley had an unfair advantaged over the other celebrities.

They insisted she was a “professional” dancer due to her experience.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Ashley and Pasha….it’s like watching 2 professional dancers…..oh wait a minute……#SCD #Strictly.”

Another added: “Wow. Who would have thunk it. Professional dancer Ashley Roberts is pretty good at dancing. #strictly.”

“#Strictly Ashley is a professional dancer? Am I missing something?” a third shared.

Someone else wrote: “Doesn’t matter how well ashley does because she’s a professional dancer? i don’t think that’s fair on those who haven’t danced before #Strictly.”

Ashley has previously spoken out about her experience.

She told BBC Radio 2 host Chris Evans: “I miss performing and I’m excited to learn a new style of dance.

“The latin and ballroom world is foreign to me.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 7.45pm on BBC One.
