Solo: A Star Wars Story saw Han Solo do his best to make something of his life, as did his former partner Qi’ra, though each in their own ways.
Even Solo’s new character Tobias Beckett was a cautionary tale of love in the time of survival.
But there was a glimmer of that same Star Wars hope, though not in the place you’d expect it.
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Who is Erin Kellyman?
The 19-year old actress is relatively unknown.
Before taking centre stage in what audiences are praising as a rousing and bolstering role in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Kellyman had only a few credits to her name.
Kellyman appeared in Raised by Wolves, the Channel 4 sitcom written by Caitlin Moran and her sister Caroline Moran, as well as The Coopers Vs The Rest, a BBC 2 comedy.
Currently, Kellyman is starring in BBCs adaptation of Les Miserables as the iconic Eponine.
Who is Enfys Nest?
Pulling what should be dubbed “The Eowyn”, Enfys Nest – a feared and cutthroat marauder – removes her mask only to reveal a young woman leading the band of rebels.
Solo: A Star Wars Story set Enfys Nest up as one of the worst of all the baddies.
If Crimson Dawn were bad Enfys Nest was the anarchical villain.
Only, Enfys Nest revealed they weren’t villains after all – but rebels.
The group of marauders also included Star Wars stalwart Warwick Davis, in a role in which he finally got to show his face.
Enfys Nest formed in retaliation to Crimson Dawn looting and destroying their homes.
Solo: A Star Wars Story gave this important, if brief, mantle to Erin Kellyman, a face almost guaranteed to be unknown to Star Wars audiences.
The other shock revelation – that Crimson Dawn reports back to Darth Maul -gives audiences an inkling of how important Enfys Nest will be to the future of the galaxy.
The Enfys Nest revelation was one of Solo: A Star Wars Story’s saving graces. For a movie dedicated to the selfish necessity of survival, Enfys Nest offered that quintessential Star Wars hope.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is in cinemas now.
