Ant and Dec fans have had a tough week and it was made even worse when they realised that their favourite ITV entertainment show Saturday Night Takeaway wouldn’t be airing tonight.

Yet as viewers geared up for a night in regardless, they were dumbfounded to discover that the show’s replacement was a repeat of the comedy show.

Tonight’s instalment featured presenter Keith Lemon’s usual round of comedy and featured an all-star panel line-up of Coronation Street actress Samia Longchambon, boxer David Haye and radio presenter Dave Berry.

Yet many fans simply couldn’t overlook the fact that ITV hadn’t taken “more effort” to provide completely new programming.

Taking to Twitter, viewers raged at the channel for the frustrating decision.

One person wrote: “Seriously is a repeat of #throughthekeyhole the best ITV could put out on a Saturday night!”

“#throughthekeyhole fu**ing primetime @ITV programming and we get a fu**ing repeat,” another angry viewer said.

A third raged: “ITV has put on a REPEAT of Through The Keyhole! Surely they could have put on something else?? Nope! @ITV shame on you. #throughthekeyhole.”

While a fourth agreed: “@itv And the point of Through the Keyhole repeats is? #throughthekeyhole,” followed by: “Wouldn’t mind but this was only on a short time ago…. #throughthekeyhole.”

Not everyone felt the same, as many fans enjoyed guessing the celebrities’ homes from the clues and short clips given on the show.

“Here we go, just love this TV show #throughthekeyhole @lemontwittor,” one person tweeted, while even Samia herself promised: “Ooh I’m on #throughthekeyhole tonight… it’s a repeat but it’s a funny one.”

The three homes featured were that of US basketball star Dennis Rodman, STEPS singer Ian “H” Watkins, and presenter Melinda Messenger.

Saturday Night Takeaway fans will be pleased to learn that Dec is soldiering on with the show for its’ final two episodes on March 31 and April 7 in its usual time slot at 7pm.

While the former Byker Grove actor has posted a poignant message on the pair’s social media pages, he will also continue to take the deserved audience winners to the show’s finale at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Dec said: “Whilst I never thought I’d be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we’ve decided that the remaining two shows of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead.

“We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale,” the star continued. And we will honour that.”

Saturday Night Takeaway returns Saturday March 31 at 7pm on ITV.
