Richard Hammond net worth: How does The Grand Tour presenter's compare to his co-hosts'?

Richard Hammond, 47, is best known for co-hosting the BBC Two car programme Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson, 57, and James May, 54.

While the presenters and his co-hosts left the show in 2015, after 13 years, they moved on to Amazon’s The Grand Tour

Much of Richard’s fortune comes from the two car shows but he has also had a number of other endeavours along the way.

So what is his net worth and how does it compare to Jeremy’s and James’?

According to reports, he has an estimated fortune of nearly £20million.

This is more than James’, who reportedly has net worth of £9million, but less than Jeremy’s, who is believed to be worth a whopping £30million.

The trio are known for their lavish lifestyle – Richard even has his own helicopter that he uses to commute to London from his £2.5million Herefordshire castle.

But how to the presenter amass his massive sum?

Alongside Top Gear, Richard also presented other shows including Brainiac: Science Abuse (2003 to 2015), Total Wipeout (1009 to 2012) and Planet Earth live (2012).

After Richard, Jeremy and James started The Grand Tour they launched the automotive social media website DriveTribe.

But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Richard during his career.

In September 2006 he suffered serious head injuries during filming for Top Gear after a jet-powered car spun out of control at 288mph.

He was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he remained in a coma for two weeks.

Then in June this year he was airlifted to hospital again following another crash in Switzerland during filming for The Grand Tour.

Driving a supercar worth £2million he lost control before it flipped and burst into flames.

Richard escaped with a fractured knee.

The second series of The Grand Tour is being released on Friday 8 December, but how did his co-host pave his way to success
