Meghan Markle’s dad had an operation yesterday to help a heart problem that has caused him to pull out of the wedding, leaving Meghan without someone to walk her down the aisle.
Sean Mandell from TMZ appeared on Good Morning Britain today to reveal his take on the unfurling drama.
He claimed Meghan Markle was “tearful” after news that her father staged papparazzi images.
Speaking to presenter Susanna Reid, Sean said: “I have heard in private Meghan was embarrassed and tearful about what happened with the staged photos.”
However, he added: “She is holding up from what I have been told but she has been tearful at times and it has been trying for her.”
Meghan and her father have been in touch, the reporter claims.
He said: “She has called him, she called him on Monday after our first story broke.
“She said she loved him, she cared for his health and she wishes him no ill will. She does still love her father.”
However, he revealed things may not be so amicable between Meghan and her sister Samantha Grant.
Sean added: “In terms of her half sister we’ve been told Samantha does not know anything about Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry, they have not been close since they were children.”
What is more, the reporter spoke to Thomas Markle Sr last night as Meghan’s dad gave the reporter and update on his condition after heart surgery.
He said: “He called me to let me know he had gotten out of surgery.”
According to the LA-based reporter it is “incredibly unlikely” Thomas will make the wedding.
Sean added: “I do get the sense that he does want to be reunited with Meghan because he had a change of heart on Tuesday this week after speaking with Meghan over text.”
Meghan Markle and Harry released a statement on Monday via Kensington Palace.
They said: “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding.
“She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.”
How will Meghan Markle’s wedding be planned around Mr Markle’s absence?
Sam and Lisa Johnson, wedding planners from Carmela Weddings, told Express.co.uk: “Meghan will already be feeling a certain amount of pressure, even taking into account her understanding of media exposure.
“Unfortunately, Meghan is having to deal with expectations from her future in-laws and the news that her father will not be attending will undoubtedly be raising some eyebrows.”
