Pokemon Go December Community Day 2018 times, event news and secret update?

Niantic has already confirmed that there will be a massive list of Pokemon to catch during the upcoming December Community Day.

And trainers are also hoping that Niantic will throw in some special surprises at some point during the Pokemon Go weekend event.

But even if nothing new is added that catches the eye, there will still be plenty of great Pokemon to catch.

The current list includes all the Pokemon from previous Community Day events, meaning fans can fill in the holes in their collection.

All of these Pokemon have their own exclusive moves which will be available to unlock again during the event.

The current list of Pokemon includes Pikachu, Dratini, Bulbasaur, Mareep, Charmander, Larvitar, Squirtle, Eevee, Chikorita, Beldum and Cyndaquil.

As you might imagine, that is a lot of Pokemon to try and catch and evolve during a three-hour event.

So lucky for us, Niantic has extended the hours for when these Pokemon can be caught.

Things kick off on Friday, November 30, at 9pm in the UK and go on until December 3.

Bonuses from past events will also be going live during the usual three-hour block, meaning it will be worth waking up early on the weekend for some top Pokemon Go rewards.

The Special Bonus Date + Time slots are as follows:

  • Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: December 1, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC (GMT +0)
  • The Americas and Greenland: December 1, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8)
  • Asia-Pacific: December 2, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST (GMT +9)

There is also one other surprise fans are hoping will be included in this weekend’s big Community Day celebrations.

With so many Pokemon from the past popping up, it would also be a good time for fans to expand their Shiny collection.

Shiny Pokemon are special variants that appear in different colours to regular Pokemon. However, they do not boast special stats or moves.

There has been no word from Niantic on whether this bonus will be included, even though they have been during every other event.

It would make sense that the ultimate Community Day celebrations would also offer the most Shinies during a 48-hour period as well.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like that we will get an answer until the event kicks off later today.

Here is what Niantic has said so far about the upcoming December Community Day for Pokemon Go:

“We want to thank you for making this year’s Community Days so special. All over the world, in all kinds of weather, Trainers gathered to catch an array of Pokémon species and hoped for a glimpse of a Shiny Pokémon.

“In order to celebrate a fantastic year of Community Days, every Pokémon species featured during these events will appear in the wild again, all around the world, for a special weekend-long event, from Friday, November 30, at 1 p.m. PST to Sunday, December 2, at 11 p.m. PST.

“All of the featured moves from each Community Day will also be available, so your evolved Pokémon can get them! Additionally, special bonuses will be available for just three hours in each region.”

Niantic has also announced another big event happening during December which isn’t directly connected to this week’s Community Day.

It has now been announced that Field Research in December will bring some previously featured Pokémon back into the spotlight too.

Every time you reach a Research Breakthrough during the month, you’ll have a chance to encounter Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Raikou, Entei, or Suicune.

This is in the same spirit as the weekend’s Pokemon Go event, the only difference being that the opportunity will be available for a longer period of time.
