Nintendo Switch games shock as TWO big 2018 announcements are leaked

The Nintendo Switch games list boasts some top AAA titles but could always do with more outside support.

A lot of analysts see dedicated third-party support as the key to the Switch’s long term success.

Some have already seen the rise of outsider development and upped their predictions for how many of the new hybrid consoles could be sold.

And it appears that more Nintendo Switch games announcements are coming our way in January 2018.

While not confirmed from Nintendo themselves, a new online leak suggests that a Nintendo Direct is being planned.

This comes from an apparent leak stemming from EA, who will be reportedly showing off one of their new titles during it.

This new information should be taken with a grain of salt as it’s hard to determine if the source material is real.

However, if it does prove true, it appears that Nintendo will be showing off new third-party support very soon.

One of those games will be Fe, which will reportedly be released in February 2018, following the Nintendo showcase.

Unfortunately no other games were cited on the list for the Direct event, meaning we don’t know what others might be included.

It could be a great opportunity for Nintendo to show off their new Pokemon game for the Switch, or at least talk some more on the subject.

The release of such a title is expected to make a big impact for the console and potentially be a big sales-driver.

It was announced at E3 2017 that Nintendo was working on a core Pokemon RPG (originally thought to be called Pokemon Stars) for the Nintendo Switch.

And the upcoming Pokemon game was expected to have a 2018 release date.

This has led to NPD Analyst Mat Piscatella providing an update on just what kind of impact a game like that could have for Switch market share, which is currently on course to do pretty well without it.

“Switch is on pace to exceed Wii by 20%+ over the first 10 months of sales,” Piscatella commented online.

“The thing is though, the Switch, from a demographic and usage basis, is nothing like the Wii. It’s much more a core gamer console than anything Nintendo has done since maybe NGC?

“And because it’s a hybrid, multi console ownership per household could be a thing, making upside potential bigger than the Wii.”

So while the Switch could start to muscle in on the PS4 and Xbox One, it might not have such a draining effect on sales, as it could be seen as an additional console, rather than a replacement device.

But with a new Pokemon game launching in 2018, things could be even better for the hybrid gaming machine.

“If Pokemon comes next year I can easily see Switch outpacing Wii and taking 40+ share of the hardware market next year, he added.

“But it does depend on if Pokemon is next year or not.”

And that’s quite a big question right now, following an earlier update this year from Nintendo on their next big project.
