Married couple Susan (played by Jackie Woodburne) and Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) are set for a dramatic storyline on Neighbours next week.
The plot begins when Erinsborough High school staff organise a group camping trip into the outback with parents, students and teachers all gearing up for an adventure.
The trip, which is in aid of the institution’s school leadership campout, will see things very quickly deteriorate when Susan is suddenly lost in the bush.
A panicked Karl then embarks on a tense journey to try and rescue his beloved wife from potential death.
Things turn sour almost instantly when Poppy Ryan (Eloise Ross) is finally caught bullying Kirsha Rebecchi (Vani Dhir).
The bitter scenes will see the teachers step in to send the vile teenager home immediately as a distressed Kirsha struggles to bounce back.
Deciding she can’t go on with the trip Kirsha pointblank refuses to continue leaving a concerned Susan to stay behind for a heart-to-heart.
But in a worrying twist, the pair quickly realise they’ve lost their bearings in the enormous woods with no sight or sound of the rest of the group for miles.
Susan attempts to rectify the situation with her phone and map of the area but as the night starts to draw in it quickly dawns on her the danger they’re in.
Meanwhile, the school group finally realise Susan and Kirsha are missing and they quickly mobilise to try and find them in time before danger strikes.
But with the pair still AWOL, the team are forced to contact home to give the bad news.
Karl has recently undergone a painful operation but forgetting his own health issues decides to go and look for Susan alone regardless.
Things then take a turn for the worse when Karl struggles to breathe and collapses in the bush.
Pictures show local resident Xanthe Canning luckily finding the doctor, but her stricken expression may say it all.
She attempts to rub Karl’s wounded leg in a bid to get him moving again, yet despite all his efforts, Karl may need serious medical intervention.
And what will happen to Susan and Kirsha in the meantime? Will the pair survive the unforgiving Australian bush?
Meanwhile, former Neighbours star Alin Sumarwata has teased a return to the soap when she revealed she would “love” to become her character Vanessa Villante once more recently.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she said: “She went back already with [Lucas Fitzgerald] in 2015 and that was fun. They’ve written her in a way that she can kind of go back in and out with the cupcakes and kind of please everyone.
“She can just keep wowing them with the cupcakes! Yeah, I’ll never say never put it that way, and I really enjoyed my time on there.”
Neighbours airs these scenes on Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
