Meghan won’t sell-out ‘feminist principles’ in ‘global power couple’ body language reveals

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married in May 19 and have since been a Duke and Duchess of United Kingdom.

The couple have taken up the Commonwealth as one of their campaigning issue as a royal couple.

As a part of this mutual interest the couple have attended a number of commonwealth events including the The Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.

How are the couple adjusting to married like and their new roles?

What can their body language reveal? A body language expert gave her professional opinion to

Judi James claimed the couple are operating as a “global power couple”.

She said: “This body language between Harry and Meghan might well define their status as a global power couple in the future but it also emphasises the strong bonds of love between them as newlyweds.”

While the couple have to contend with expectations from the public and their very public life as a couple, Megan is also attempting to show her inner self, Judi said.

“They’re currently picking their way between all the archaic confines of royal protocol rules and etiquette, with Meghan clearly doing her best to act in a way that works in her role as wife of a royal prince,” the expert said.

“But – hopefully – without compromising her feminist principles and the more spontaneous, tactile side of her personality that bonded her with the UK public so quickly.”

Meghan has a long history of campaigning and charity work.

Her webpage on the royal site quotes the former-Suits actress speaking at the UN on International Women’s Day 2015.

At the event she told attendees: “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist.”

Judi claims that Meghan is attempting to hold on to her feminist principles while also settling into a royal role.

She added: “Meghan is also a campaigner and an eloquent speaker and she and Harry seem to see their future as making positive change around the world.

“These poses see her primarily back in that role but with a couple of nods to her royal duties.”

Meghan Markle was voted as being more “in tune” with the public than Kate Middleton due to her feminist views.

Research found that Britons believe Meghan is the most relatable female royal, after her husband-to-be Prince Harry, who came in top place.

Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton and the Queen are “close friends” according to a royal expert.

Robert Lacey, historical consultant for The Crown, told People: “What’s characterised these months are the two great relationships that she has struck up with the Queen and with Catherine.”

Who is Meghan Markle? Quick profile

Meghan Markle was born Rachel Meghan Marle, on August 4, 1961 to parents Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle.

Her father was previously married to Roslyn Loveless and Meghan has two elder half sibling – sister Samantha Markle and brother Thomas Markle Junior.

Meghan’s first television appearance in the USA was in an episode of the medical drama General Hospital in 2002.

She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trace and Castle along with bit parts in Hollywood films including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses.

Meghan was also a “briefcase girl” on Deal or No Deal – but her most famous role was as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, which launched in 2011.

She was written out in the finale of the seventh series when her character got married, which aired in April 2018 – just before she got married herself.

Charity and humanitarian work

Meghan Markle’s career in television has gone hand-in-hand with her support for causes close to her heart.

She wrote about the stigma around menstrual health in an article for Time magazine and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada – with whom she travelled to Rwanda for the charity’s Clean Water Campaign.

And her commitment to gender equality has seen her work with the United Nations – receiving a standing ovation in 2015 for her speech to mark International Women’s Day.

In September 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004.

But the pair divorced two years later in August 2013, citing irreconcilable difference.

She was in a relationship with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello for almost two years, before they broke it off in 2016 but the two remain good friends.

And in June 2016, she met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.

Their relationship began in October that year and just over one year later, on November 27, 2017, the pair announced their engagement.

They married on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Meghan’s heritage

Some have claimed Meghan Markle is the first mixed-race member of the Royal Family.

Historians are still arguing about Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III.

But Meghan will be the first royal to openly embrace a mixed-race heritage.

She has written about the difficulties of being a biracial actress in Hollywood as she claims she is not black enough for some roles and not white enough for others.
