On their itinerary was a visit to Trinity College, part of the University of Dublin.
But it wasn’t the first time Meghan had visited the campus, actually visiting the college five years ago, for a very different reason.
Her last trip to the campus was a stark contrast to her visit yesterday, and could not have been more different.
In 2013 Meghan visited the Irish capital to collect the Bram Stoker Medal for Entertainment.
She picked up the award just one year after landing her role as Rachel Zane the hit US TV show, Suits.
She was nominated for the award long before she became a member of the royal family, or even had worldwide fame.
But even then Meghan was not considered for the highest accolade, becoming an Honorary Patron of the society.
With Honorary Patron given to household names such as Channing Tatum and Johan Hill, Meghan was given the Bram Stoker Medal for Entertainment.
A former student at the time of Meghan’s visit, James Wilson, spoke to the Irish Central about her 2013 award: “In 2013, before she started dating Prince Harry, Markle wasn’t considered top billing.”
“Even after inviting her it was decided she wasn’t important enough for our top award: to become an Honorary Patron of the society.”
He also revealed that they almost did’t invite Meghan to the college at all.
However he did claim that the Duchess was “the nicest” VIP guest they had ever hosted at the university, saying she was in a “league of her own”.
When picking up the award Meghan’s style was a far cry from her more polished, clean cut appearance of recent weeks.
She wore cropped, ripped mum jeans, a black knitted jumper and big navy blue coat.
Meghan showed an affinity for the Irish city, visiting again in 2014 for her role of One Young World Counsellor.
Yesterday’s Givenchy trouser suit was a far cry from her more casual attire when last visiting the college in 2013.
The 36-year-old wore the stunning black suit, channelling 80’s power dressing.
With oversized shoulders accentuating her tiny frame, the black blazer was slightly cropped and featured sharp button detailing on the sleeves.
Under the blazer Meghan wore a simple white T-shirt, oozing effortless style.
