- Meghan Markle, 36, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, married Prince Harry, 33, at St. George’s Chapel last Saturday 19 May in a royal wedding ceremony.
- However, Thomas Markle, 73, the bride’s father, and Prince Harry’s now father-in-law, was noticeably absent from the event after reportedly having last minute heart surgery.
- Now, Meghan and Prince Harry plan to travel to Mexico to see Thomas Markle, a royal expert has revealed.

Meghan was pictured holding hands with Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, 70, during yesterday’s garden party.
She clasped Prince Charles’ wife’s hand warmly while greeting her at the event
Meghan is known for her warm, tactile manner, and notably hugged members of the public on her first official appearance with Harry in Nottingham last December.

It is unknown when the meeting will take place, but it will apparently be “soon”.
This would be the first time Prince Harry meets his wife’s father, who divorced the Suits star’s mother Doria when Meghan was just six years old.
It follows a media storm in the run-up to the wedding after Thomas Markle reportedly colluded with the paparazzi to stage photos of himself. However, it seems this has not deterred Prince Harry from meeting his father-in-law.
“I hear one of the things they want to do sooner than later – and now that they’re married – is to go and see Thomas Markle, who is recovering from a heart operation,” said Katie Nicholl, royal expert and author of Harry: Life, Loss and Love, told Entertainment Today.
However, it would appear the exact time of the trip has not yet been scheduled.
“We don’t know when this trip might happen. …I’m hearing from people close to Meghan and Harry that they’re very keen to do it, added Katie.
“He feels it’s very important that he gets to meet Thomas. Of course, Meghan — who’s been really concerned about her father’s health — is keen to go see him as soon as possible.”
The news of the possible Mexico trip comes after Thomas expressed “regret” over not attending the royal wedding.
Thomas told TMZ that he would “always regret” that he did not attend the wedding.
“The service was beautiful and it’s history,” he told the American publication.
“I will always regret not being able to be there and not being able to hold my daughter’s hand.
“My baby girl is a duchess and I love her so much. When you watch your child get married, every thought goes through your mind, every memory from the first day she was born, the first time I held her.”
“Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything.”
Thomas was due to walk Meghan Markle down the aisle, but Prince Charles stepped in to walk Meghan down the aisle at last minute.
The news was announced in an update from Kensington Palace which read: “Ms Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St. George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
It came after Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle Sr, 73, who was originally due to walk her down the aisle, dropped out of the wedding.
It was hotly speculated that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, 61, would walk her down the aisle in Thomas’ place.
Charles’ kind gesture will not, in fact, be the first time he has walked a bride down the aisle on her wedding day.
Prince Charles previously walked close family friend Alexandra Knatchbull down the aisle at her wedding to Thomas Hooper in 2016.
