Man Utd rumour revealed: I’ve heard THIS about Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward – pundit

Mourinho’s job has seemingly been under threat at Manchester United after a dreadful start to the Premier League season.

They are languishing down in eighth – 18 points behind leaders and fierce rivals Manchester City.

In the background there is an ongoing row between Mourinho and United’s club-record signing Paul Pogba.

However, pundit Ian McGarry has been told that the breakdown in the relationship between Pogba and Mourinho WON’T have an effect on whether he gets sacked.

That’s despite Mourinho reportedly calling Pogba a ‘virus’ in front of his fellow players in the dressing room last week.

“There’s clearly a dysfunctional relationship between Mourinho and Pogba. It’s not going to wait,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.

“It’s worsened for that dressing room dressing down to be given and there’s a massive decision to be made.

“At this moment in time the Glazers, from what I’ve heard, not even Woodward for that matter, are willing to part company with Jose Mourinho on the basis of a resolution with Pogba.

“However, parting with Paul Pogba may still be the best case scenario for the club.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Mino Raiola has already been in touch with Woodward regarding what was said in the dressing room last Saturday evening and be demanded his player be given priority.”

United spent £89million on luring Pogba back to Old Trafford in 2016 – just four years after he left the club he grew up at.

McGarry has likened the situation to that of David Beckham, who was shown the door by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2003 after feeling he wasn’t focused enough on football.

“I do wonder if Ed Woodward is intelligent or if he is intuitive enough,” McGarry continued.

“Even though the Pogba experiment in bringing him back, and remember it was Ferguson who let Pogba go, he did want to keep him but saw the dangers going forward of Mino Raiola as his agent and Pogba’s own ego and personality, they didn’t fight to the death to keep him. They let him go to Juventus.

“I wonder if Woodward is both intuitive enough and courageous enough to back his manager and say ‘this is our Beckham moment in transfer window 2019 and we need to get rid of the virus to allow the club and the players, who are around Pogba, to express themselves as a team rather than as an individual and make this club work again’.”
