Lemar was appearing on live video link discussing the skating competition when the 58-year-old caused the stir.
As he told the presenter of the gruelling training regime, he mentioned the affects it had been having on his body.
“My groin is very painful,” the 39-year-old singer confessed.
While the two briefly went on to other matters, at the end of the interview, Lorraine referred back to his earlier comment in an uncomfortable way.
“Be careful,” she told him, “Look after that wee groin.”
Lemar looked slightly taken aback at her statement, but fans of the programme had a much stronger view.
Those watching the show were shocked at the Scotswoman’s remark and took to Twitter to express their opinion.
“@reallorraine ‘look after that wee groin’!!!!! Why would you say that to somoeone?!?!?,”(sic) one questioned.
While another demanded: “Stop dwelling on his groin you dutty mare #Lorraine.”(sic)
One viewer noted that the comment may have not been acceptable if their roles were reversed.
“@ITVLorraine not sure Lorraine should have made that comment about ‘look after your groin’ to Lemar… if a man had said that to a woman then all hell would have broken loose #doublestandards.”
Lemar will take to the ice for his first official skate at the weekend.
Last week saw the first half of celebrities compete to see who would be up for elimination this week.
Whoever gets the fewest votes on Sunday will be joining Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown in the show’s first skate-off.
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
