Following an ad break, host Andrea McLean introduced today’s panel which featured Saira Khan, Janet Street-Porter and Linda Robson.
As Andrea, 47, named each member of the panel, the studio audience gave a round of applause but something seemed to go wrong when they got to the Birds of a Feather actress, 59.
There was deadly silence in the Loose Women studio when Linda’s name was announced, leading Andrea to exclaim: “Oooo! No applause!”
As if realising they’d missed their cue, the crowd suddenly start clapping and cheering for Linda to make up for their earlier reticence.
Linda appeared to also be clapping herself as her fellow Loose Women were left in stitches by the moment.
“Thank you very much! Tough crowd!” quipped Linda, who didn’t appear too impressed with the people in the audience.
The scenes come as talk got quite saucy on Loose Women today as the panel discussed whether they would have so-called maintenance sex, whereby doing the deed to please their partner even though they weren’t in the mood.
Janet, 70, confessed that in the past she’d used sex as a form of control over previous partners, saying: “I’m the marriage expert here. I’ve done it so many times, I think sometimes it might that the woman is the breadwinner and it’s a form of control.
“You’re more busy. The secret reason might be you want control and certainly I’ve done that on occasion. I think it’s quite a cruel things and people do it. It’s a sex control and I used it.”
She went on to say: “I went off and had an affair – get over it!”
Meanwhile, Saria, 47, said that she couldn’t have sex if she didn’t want to, explaining: “I find it hard to grasp. My husband does’t need a regular MOT and service, he’s not a battered old car.
“As you know, I’ve talked about the fact I didn’t want to have sex anymore. For me, I didn’t understand it. I went from a healthy sex drive to nothing.”
The former Apprentice star said it was only after therapy that she realised what the underlying problems in her sex life were and was able to resolve them.
