That is the honest opinion of legendary Liverpool defender turned pundit Jamie Carragher.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City are unbeaten heading into the match at Anfield.
City sit top of the table with 19 points and are only ahead of the Reds on goal difference.
Last season Liverpool inflicted City’s first defeat of the campaign at Anfield 4-3 but Guardiola’s team still eased to their title win.
Carragher believes for Liverpool’s own title chances they cannot really afford to lose to Manchester City in either game this term.
But he says a victory today would also give other teams in the league confidence City can be beaten.
“I think it will (have a bearing on the title),” Jamie Carragher said of the game on Sky Sports.
“City have lost one away game in the Premier League in 25 and that was at Anfield.
“So for Liverpool, whether it’s here today or at the Etihad in the second half of the season, if they want to win the league, they’ve got to be thinking to themselves ‘who else is going to do our job to take points off City?’.
“Well, the last 12 months have shown us that not many teams are going to do it.
“So if you want to win that league, you’re going to have to do it yourself.
“Now, I’m not saying that if Liverpool don’t win today they can’t win the league and vice versa, but I think at the end of the season, if Liverpool were to be champions and didn’t take points off City, at least four points off City, you actually think ‘where are the points going to come from that City are going to lose to? Who are these teams that they’re going to lose to?’.
“Because they have got that feeling of last season that at times, like the great Man United sides, the great Arsenal teams under Arsene Wenger, where you actually think ‘how can you beat them?’.
“And Liverpool have to maybe as well beat them for the rest of the league to give belief out there that they can be beaten.
“That’s what Liverpool did a little bit last season in the Champions League and the Premier League.
“But can they send the message out to City that the title is on?”
