How long is the Line of Duty season 5 finale?

Line of Duty season five, episode six is 90 minutes in length.

The episode will air at 9pm this evening, finishing at 10.25pm.

You can watch Line of Duty as it airs on BBC One or you can stream it live via the BBC iPlayer.

After the episode airs, the entire fifth season will be available to stream and download via the BBC iPlayer.

Tonight, fans of Line of Duty will be hoping the shadowy figure H will be unmasked.

Why is the Line of Duty season 5 finale so long?

Usually, episodes of Line of Duty are an hour in length, finishing at 10pm.

Tonight’s episode will be an additional 24 minutes longer than usual.

This is the longest episode of any Jed Mercurio-created series,

The bodyguard finale was just 75 minutes in length.

The BBC confirmed that Line of Duty was getting an extended finale in the form of a “nail-biting 90-minute finale!”

There has been no official explanation as to why the Line of Duty season five finale is so long.

The season five finale is likely to have been longer because the additional 24 minutes were needed to wrap up the complex plot.

For the past two seasons, Kate Fleming (played by Vicky McClure) and Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) have been trying to track down the true identity of H.

H was the name muttered by bent copper Matthew “Dot” Cotton (Craig Parkinson) before he supposedly died.

At the moment, Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) is suspected as being H amongst fans for many reasons.

He has crippling debts, marital troubles and was accused of letting the OCG get away with the £50m worth of stolen goods at the beginning of the season.

Speaking to The Guardian, Adrian Dunbar who plays Hastings said: “These things can be quite arbitrary. Jed will say, ‘Why don’t we put a couple of looks here in this particular scene’, and suddenly you’re like, what the heck is going on? Am I the bad guy now?”

“There is something going on and it’s not just a red herring. It explores Ted’s background – his part, the situation with his wife, and something we already know – that he’s not good with money.”

At Betfair, Ted Hastings has odds of 2/1 of being H.

He is followed by Roz Huntley (Thandie Newton) at 5/1 and Kate Fleming at 11/2.

Will there be another series of Line of Duty?

Yes, the BBC gave Line of Duty a double recommission in 2017 which means season six is going to be on the cards.

However, creator Mercurio revealed on Twitter that he had not yet written seasons six or seven.

Season six is in the works and it’s yet to be confirmed when the next series will be airing on the BBC.

The next series is again likely to feature six episodes like its predecessors as the story picks up from tonight’s finale.

Line of Duty season 5 ends tonight on BBC One at 9pm
