Jason Donovan RETURNS to West End for Joseph REVIVAL after almost 30 YEARS

The Aussie singer and Neighbours star first starred in the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat back in 1991. Donovan went on to perform the musical in a sold out 18-month run and now he’s returning for a revival. According to The Mirror, the 50-year-old will play Pharaoh at the London Palladium later this year, almost three decades after first appearing in the hit show there. Donovan said: “You never know the measure of a moment until it becomes a memory, and what a moment that was for me.”

He continued: “Joseph was a groundbreaker in 1991, and what a blast it will be to be back on the prestigious Palladium stage and be part of it all again with a brand new cast in this re-imagined 2019 production.

“I’m looking forward to breathing new life into Pharoah and I’m so relieved he doesn’t wear a loincloth!”

Meanwhile, Sheridan Smith joins the cast as The Narrator, while an up-and-coming actor will take the role of Joseph.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical is based on the story of Joseph from the book of Genesis in The Bible.
