ITV Good Morning Britain: Viewers SWITCH OFF in frustration ‘Focus on OUR problems'

This morning has seen Good Morning Britain break the news of a horrific shooting in California, America, in a situation which is still currently developing.

Across the pond, reporter Ross King relayed the information over the heartbreaking tragedy taking place at Borderline Bar & Grill, around 30 miles outside of Los Angeles.

There are reportedly multiple casualties after the shooting, which took place around an hour ago at 11.15pm Pacific Standard Time in Thousand Oaks, California.

As the news came through on the ITV show, presenter Susanna, 47, shared: “Honestly it’s just ridiculously frequent in the States, and still [there’s] nothing done.

“If someone can go into a school, well that just says it all really doesn’t it.”

But after initially breaking the news of the awful atrocity, Susanna and her co-star Ben, 43, continued to return to the story.

Viewers started to question if the coverage was starting to take away the importance of reporting on news here in Britain.

Explaining their concerns on Twitter, viewers were equally upset and frustrated by the events.

“Susanna saying about the mass shootings taking place and still nothing is done. It’s the same problem we have here. Concentrate on the knife crime instead of the shootings in America #GMB,” one person asked.

Another wrote: “Mass shootings are a genuine terrible thing, but do you think anyone on the US has reported on the stabbings in London? Can’t we focus on our own problems? Prime example of government controlled media #gmb.”

A third upset viewer shared: “#GMB switched off. Covering this California shooting. If they aren’t going to do anything about guns, why do we still need to hear about it?”

“And again why isn’t Susanna and #GMB focusing more on London and the five murders in less than a week, or is it because that would make it a lot less safe than they claim? If it was another country they would be all over it,” a fourth posted.

Others shared their feelings over the terrible news, with one person declaring: “Could the news be any more revolting this morning? War veteran fighting for his life, six stabbings overnight across the UK and now a mass shooting in California.

“Absolutely disgusted that human beings behave like this #gmb.”

“Stabbings here and shootings in the US. F***’s sake. #gmb,” another viewer added.

At one stage, Susanna promised: “Now we’re going to bring the news back to home,” but it wasn’t long before the breakfast programme returned to the developing news story in the USA.

The journalist finished: “Before we hand over to Lorraine we’re going to go back to the breaking news in the States, another mass shooting.”

“It’s unbelievable really, and yet expected in some ways,” she said sadly.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
