When will the Game of Thrones House of Targaryen series be released?

According to US entertainment site Deadline, HBO is close to giving the go-ahead on a pilot episode of the tentative series.

But as yet there’s no release date because the broadcaster is still deciding on whether to give the green light.

On top of that, once the pilot has been filmed, HBO executives will be making a decision on whether the give the show a whole series order.

Judging by this, fans could be waiting some time for the show to actually hit screens as it goes through this process.

Viewers have already been wondering about Bloodmoon and whether it will be getting a whoo series.

HBO gave Game of Thrones the green-light after watching the pilot – however, the original opening episode was re-cast and re-shot with Michelle Fairley and Emilia Clarke brought on board to take over the roles of Catelyn Stark and Daenerys Targaryen respectively.

Going on conservative estimates, the earliest the House of Targaryen series could premiere is 2021, if not 2022.

Who will be in the cast of the Game of Thrones House of Targaryen series?

There are no details about the cast as yet but given the success of Game of Thrones, the House of Targaryen series could have a stellar cast.

Bloodmoon has attracted the likes of John Simm and Miranda Richardson, so the lure of the Game of Thrones franchise is a powerful one for actors.

On top of that, Game of Thrones made stars out of previously up-and-coming actors Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who are now household names.

So, there is the opportunity for rising talent to shine and breakout on the House of Targaryen series.

What will happen in the Game of Thrones House of Targaryen series

The reports suggest the show will be set 300 years before Game of Thrones and follow the dragon rider family.

This show is most likely to take its cue from George RR Martin’s Fire and Blood: 300 Years Before A Game of Thrones (A Targaryen History).

Volume one was published last year and the second instalment is expected to be published at a later date.

As Game of Thrones fans will know, the Targaryen only became the last dragonrider family after they fled Old Valyria before the Doom and so survived.

However, they were by no means the biggest or most powerful dynasty of dragonriders, they were simply lucky to have fled in time.

There’s no trailer as yet and won’t be for some time with HBO still yet to approve the program first.

However, will update this article with any teasers, trailers or promo as and when they drop.
