Emmerdale spoilers: Ross Barton set for painful ADDICTION storyline – Here’s the evidence

Emmerdale’s Ross (played by Michael Parr) has long been one of the ITV soap’s hunkiest characters, priding himself on looking after his appearance and charm with women.

Yet since his accident, which was inadvertently caused by ex girlfriend Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb), Ross’ mental health has been rapidly deteriorating.

With only his prescription pills to try and numb the pain, Ross has also been turning to alcohol to self-medicate since his accident.

Tonight however, the mechanic appeared incredibly alarmed when his doctor suggested lowering his prescription, which led fans to worry that Ross is becoming addicted to painkillers.

Adding to the suspicion, Ross insisted that his pain levels were still at an “eight or nine”, which prompted further concern from his physician.

Convinced they knew what was coming up for the struggling character, viewers took to Twitter to share their theories.

One person wrote: “Ross going to get addicted to painkillers?? #Emmerdale.”

“Will Ross become addicted to his pain meds?? #Emmerdale,” another fan guessed.

A third worried: “Uh-oh, Ross should have a word with Billy from corrie about the effects of pain relief. #emmerdale.”

While a fourth agreed: “I really hope Ross isn’t going to get a painkiller addiction #Emmerdale.”

After hearing the devastating news that despite having a skin graft, he would always have a scar on his cheek, Ross had a break down at home.

While Ross had spent the rest of the day drinking himself into oblivion, his brother Pete Barton (Anthony Quinlan) made the grave error to bring Debbie home to talk some sense into him.

Swamped with anger, Ross lashed out at the mother-of-two by grabbing her face and pinning her up against the kitchen cupboard.

Luckily, Pete saw before anything worse came to pass and yanked him off her.

While Ross was still refusing to show any remorse, Pete finally reached the end of his tether and told his brother: “I’m done with this.”

Reminiscing about his dead brother Finn Barton (Joe Gill), Ross was left alone to cry and return to his bottle. But how far down will he go before he finally seeks help? And will he become addicted to his medication?

Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
