The mother of Abi (played Lorna Fitzgerald) and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) returned to EastEnders to watch her daughters fall from the Queen Vic roof.
However, after Abi received the tragic diagnosis that she is brainstem dead, Tanya (Jo Joyner) appeared to make a dash for it.
After fans bombarded Twitter with questions surrounding her whereabouts, EastEnders finally revealed the truth.
In the latest instalment, Max (Jake Wood) explained that Tanya had been to the hospital but was doing everything in her power to avoid him because “she couldn’t bare to be around” him.
Josh Hemmings (Eddie Eyre) seemed to side with Lauren’s mother, and warned Max: “I think it’s best if you leave. Tanya has already told security that you’ve been harassing her.”
What’s more, Max also revealed what became of a long-lost forgotten EastEnders favourite, Rolf the gerbil.
“That’s the thing about Abi, she never gives up,” he said.
“She had this gerbil, Rolf. I found her one day giving it mouth to mouth by the cage. She never gave up, not for a second.”
He added: “It actually worked, you should have seen her face – poor little thing didn’t last long after that. We buried it in the front garden. She made Tanya and Lauren do everything properly.”
EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
