Actor Robert Kazinsky, who plays Stacey Fowler’s (Lacey Turner) sibling, had a swollen right eye and several blemishes on his head.
In the spoiler image, the former barman wore a large bomber jacket over a hoodie and jumper as he walked along the snowy pavement.
He is set to play a crucial row in Jean’s impending storyline, which will focus on her mental health issues.
However, EastEnders boss Kate Oates hinted Sean may have some unfinished business of his own to attend to while in Albert Square.
“He’s got so much stuff on the Square,” the producer told Digital Spy.
“I mean, does he even know that Roxy has died? How’s his relationship with Jack gonna be? What does he think about little Amy?”
Sean was married to Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons), but was left devastated when he found out she was pregnant with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) child.
He is set to return in Spring 2019, but so far the details of his storyline have been kept under tight wraps.
But Sean is not the only character making a comeback this year, as Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) is heading back to the Square next week.
Viewers last saw her on-screen before Christmas when she fled E20 and flew to Australia to stay with her best friend Michelle Fowler.
The wife of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) left Walford because her forbidden romance with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) became too much.
When she departed Keanu and her step-daughter Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) started to see each other.
Yet their relationship might not last long as Sharon walks in on the pair kissing and instantly becomes jealous of their blossoming romance.
Despite moving on with Louise, Keanu later tells Sharon he still has feelings for her and eventually admits he loves her.
But when Sharon takes a swipe at him for quickly moving on, Keanu reminds her she was the one who ended things between them.
Will Keanu and the mother-of-one rekindled their secret romance?
Showrunner Kate previously teased a shock twist in the Keanu, Sharon and Phil love triangle, hinting at trouble ahead.
“We’re going to be playing more of that amazing love triangle that Keanu has fallen into,” she dished.
“It’s going to get really messy.”
EastEnders continues Monday on BBC One at 7.30pm.
