The 49-year-old BBC soap favourite joined the TV chef to whip up a menu of delicious delights with a wintery and festive twist this morning.
However, James, 45, suffered an epic blunder when he tried to prove a point to the EastEnders actor.
Joined by chef Paul Rankin, 58, they set about cooking the perfect cottage pie in James’ professional-grade kitchen on his induction hob.
Adam was shocked when Paul checked the heat of the pan by placing his hands on either side to test the temperature.
As Paul went on to explain how the induction process worked, James chipped in: “Have you got any money?”
After Adam steadfastly refused to give the presenter any cash for his slightly madcap experiment, James whipped a brand new £10 out of his own pocket, placed it on the hob and put the saucepan on top.
“That will melt,” the actor exclaimed, as James insisted it wouldn’t.
When they removed the pan, however, the note was shown to be stuck to the bottom.
“Oh, it’s melted,” James conceded, as Adam burst out laughing. “The old ones didn’t used to melt!”
As all three of them fell about in hysterics, the soap star gasped: “Do you know that’s treason?!”
“With the old ones that never used to happen,” James maintained, as they struggled to regain their composure, Adam twisting and stretching the now ruined note.
“Anyone got a £50 note?” the host joked.
Saturday Morning with James Martin continues next Saturday at 9.30am on ITV.
