Deep Water is the new thriller starring Anna Friel on ITV. The series was written by Anna Symon who penned Indian Sumers and The Wilsons and is based on the Windermere set of novels by author Paula Daly. Deep Water follows the story of three women living in Windermere as they juggle work and family life.

When does Deep Water start on ITV?

Unfortunately, ITV has not confirmed a start date for Deep Water.

However, they have confirmed it will premiere at some point in 2019 in their trailer teasing new drama for this year.

Filming began in autumn 2018 and has now finished, so it is likely Deep Water will be released in the coming months.

There will be six episodes in Deep Water, each an hour long.

Who stars in Deep Water on ITV?

The cast of Deep Water is a female-led ensemble.

Anna Friel stars as the mother-of-three, Lisa Kallisto.

Lisa is a businesswoman who is struggling to balance home and work life.

The character of Lisa is described as being “chaotic and disorganised”.

Friel is an International Emmy winner best known for starring in Marcella and Pushing Daisies.

She most recently starred in ITV’s Butterfly as Vicky Duffy, the mother of a transgender child.

Also starring in Deep Water is Little Boy Blue actress Sinead Keenan as Roz.

Roz is a physiotherapist who is in a huge amount of debt thanks to her partner Winston.

BAFTA-nominated actress Keenan is best known for playing Farrah Phelan in Fair City and Nina Pickering in Being Human.

She most recently starred in BBC’ One’s Care as Claire alongside Sheridan Smith.

Rosalind Eleazar completes the main cast as Kate Riverty.

Kate is the wealthiest of the three women and mother of two.

She is described as: “wealthy and attractive and with a well-drilled and highly organised family life.“

Eleazar is best known for starring as Christian Levison in Relik and in Deth in Paradise as Marie Gayle.

What is Deep Water on ITV about?

Deep Water tells the story of three women from the UK’s Lake District, who befriend each other at the school gates as their personal lives and dramas unfold.

The official synopsis reads: “The series focuses on the lives of three women, living in and around the beautiful surroundings of Windermere.

“It’s a modern look at family and the pressures we put ourselves under as we juggle busy lives.

“In striving to do their best for their families the women are capable of making some controversial choices in an attempt to hold everything together and keep their heads above deep water.

“The main characters are complex, vibrant women desperately juggling work and home life and coping with the issues raised by modern parenting.”

Polly Hill, head of drama at ITV, said: “Anna has cleverly woven together two of Paula’s brilliant novels, to create a wonderful modern and layered series.

“It’s about three very different women on their own incredible and often shocking journeys, whose lives connect at the school gates.

“It’s funny, sexy, truthful and often outrageous, and should have the audience asking what they would do to hold their own family together.”
