Crazy Rich Asians reviews and release date: 'Romcom PORNOGRAPHY' When is it out in the UK?

The movie is based on the 2013 best-selling book by Kevin Kwan. Early review scores on Rotten Tomatoes give it a perfect 100% fresh rating, which is unusual for a romantic comedy that, superficially, seems to focus on extreme wealth and shallow people.

But critics are declaring the movie revives the tired romcom genre. With the glittering settings and beautiful people combined with diversity and a bite in the tail, this film is being declared romcom “pornography.”

US audiences are in for a major treat, but UK fans will have to wait months.

The movie will be released in the US on August 15 and in the UK on November 2.

The fim stars Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon legend Michelle Yeoh, alongside British rising star Gemma Chan, most famous for the TV show Humans. The actress also dated Jack Whitehall for six years. The couple split last December.

Constance Wu and Henry Golding play young lovers Rachel and Nick.

New Yorker Rachel leads a glamorous and affluent life. But when she falls for Henry, she finds herself out of her depth when he is revealed to be the heir to one of the richest families in Singapore and his moter makes her opposition to the match clear.

LA TIMES: This adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s 2013 international bestseller is many things: a tour de force of lifestyle pornography, a slick, enjoyable divertissement, a surprisingly trenchant study of class and cultural difference.

NEW YORK POST: Crazy Rich Asians is a defibrillator for a genre that flatlined ages ago. This heartwarming, well-acted – and decadent – film takes you back to the greatest hits of Nancy Meyers, Richard Curtis and Nora Ephron.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: If Asians really only grazes true Crazy, the movie is still a deliriously glossy, globe-trotting trifle — two hours of romantic fantasy and real-estate porn poured on so thick it’s almost lickable.

SEATTLE TIMES: Is it as good as the book? No. Did it make me happy? Oh yes, and how nice to be reminded what a gift a joyful rom-com can be.
