Coronation Street viewers have recently seen Clayton Hibbs (played by Callum Harrison) return to the cobbles, and whilst he may be behind bars, he is still causing a lot of trouble, especially for his mother Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding).
In upcoming scenes she is forced to choose between saving her son or saving her relationship with David Platt (Jack P.Shepherd).
But what will she choose? Actress Julia has spoken out about the upcoming trouble her character suffers and hints at a potential feud between Shona and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
It comes as Coronation Street realised an official interview with Julia where she discussed Nick’s role within her awkward situation.
But does she tease Shona potentially exposing Nick as the soap villain?
Viewers will tune in to see Shona go and visit Clayton in prison where he will spin a web of lies about the danger he is in from other cellmates.
“Clayton is a very bad boy,” Julia began and added: “He says his life is at risk in prison, he’s being threatened and he wants her to help him get a move to a different prison.”
As her “mothering instinct kicks in” she turns to Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) for legal advice.
However, Nick finds out about Shona’s meeting with Imran and is instantly unhappy.
“Nick’s massively confrontational [to Shona],” Julia explained.
“He doesn’t like Shona and she doesn’t particularly like him because he let David down, so there’s not a lot of love lost there.
“I think he [Nick] probably relishes the fact that she’s in this really difficult predicament.”
Unable to get Clayton to move prisons, her son turns nasty on her and ends up giving her no other option but to take part in an illegal plan he has come up with.
And this is where it will affect her relationship with David.
Having been an unconditional source of support for David through his turmoil last year, she is now torn between helping out her son (who fans will remember killed David’s wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane)) or taking a back seat and listening to David’s advice.
No doubt Nick is also going to have some involvement with Shona’s situation.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Nick was the one to convince Imran to turn Shona down and tell her a prison move for Clayton wasn’t possible.
There is also bad blood between Nick and David, and as the actress previously revealed, Nick and Shona don’t like one another so Nick could very well interfere in Shona’s relationship with David and help sabotage it.
Thus in turn, when Shona finds out the role Nick has played could be intent on revenge.
But she is smart and therefore could keep a beady eye on Nick which could leave her to exposing him as the villain behind the Underworld factory roof collapse.
Coronation Street returns tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
