Coronation Street spoilers: Georgia May Foote's Katy Armstrong DIES in off-screen tragedy

Georgia May Foote left the ITV soap three years ago following five major years on the cobbles for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing

Bosses decided to leave the door open for the beloved character to return, but in a sudden twist of fate, The Sun have speculated that Sinead Tinker (played by Katie McGlynn) will break the bad news to Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).

In upcoming scenes, Chesney will be recovering from an infection in hospital when Sinead arrives, leading him to discharge himself after the shock.

A TV source said: “As Katy, Georgia was really popular with Corrie fans and had some big storylines.

“But bosses have clearly decided that she has no future in the soap, and have ruled out a return by killing her off.”

As producers move on to other storylines, the source added: “You might have thought they would show such a well-known character being written out on screen but that wasn’t to be.”

Georgia revealed at the time: “I’d decided the time was right to go before I met with producer Stuart Blackburn to discuss Katy’s future.

“It was a mutual decision for me to leave, but I wish I’d got in first.”

How will Chesney cope after the horrific news? Will his relationship with Sinead be in further trouble?

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
