Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard) will steep to a new low when his proposal to girlfriend Sinead Tinkler (Katie McGLynn) is overshadowed by Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson and Tracy Barlow’s (Kate For) own engagement.
The waiter has been shacked up in one small house with Sinead and Flora McArdle (Eileen Davies) for sometime in Coronation Street, but when Flora finds out she has been left £250,00 by her late son she decides to buy a place of her own.
As a parting gift, Flora will hand Daniel a ring in the hope that he will finally make an honest woman of Sinead.
“Having seen that their love is real, Flora decides to pass on a ring which is a family heirloom and that basically orchestrates the whole proposal,” actor Rob Mallard said.
“Daniel had considered asking Sinead to marry him when he first asked her to move in but she said it was too soon and that knocked his confidence.”
Daniel is convinced Sinead is the right person for him to start a family with and is eager to make it official.
Speaking to Soaplife, Rob explained: “Daniel would still like a family of his own in the future but given where he was a year ago, he can’t believe he’s at the point he is now.
“Sinead is 100 percent the woman for him and he’s keen to seal the deal.”
With a newfound confidence and an expensive piece of jewellery in tow, Daniel will kneel down on bended knee and propose to Sinead.
This time the blonde beauty will accept his proposal, but just as everything appears to be going well Steve and Tracy announce their engagement.
Daniel is understandably peeved off as this was his and Sinead’s moment and the former pub owner and florist have stolen their limelight.
“Daniel becomes quite petulant,” Rob revealed. “Everyone is trying to be diplomatic but Daniel just wants them all to see Steve’s proposal as a sham and his as the real deal.”
“He feels it has diluted his moment. There’s more to it than this, though,” he teased.
To punish Steve for ruining his moment, Daniel tells Tracy that Steve and Michelle kissed on Michelle’s wedding day.
Explaining how the scene unfolds, he stated: “Daniel has had a run-in with Tracy. He and Tracy have never got on.
“He is furious when she starts lying and sucking up to the now-wealthy Flora in the hope Flora will invest in Tracy’s florists.
“Daniel hits back by revealing Steve kissed Michelle on Michelle’s wedding day.”
Will Tracy call off the engagement after discovering Steve has been unfaithful? Or, will she walk down the aisle regardless.
Also, what will this mean for Michelle and Robert Preston’s relationship? Could this be the end for them?
