The accident happened during the eighth of nine heats.

It appeared from the video that Motowylo fell out of his wagon shortly after the start of the race and was then run over by his own wagon.

There are no details yet on the extent of his injuries or his condition.

Motowylo is a father of two who runs a farm and a ranch northwest of Red Deer.

He's a chuckwagon veteran, now in his 15th season of racing. In last year's Calgary Stampede championships, he placed second overall.
