Barcelona have made a fine start to the season, sitting top of La Liga and winning their first Champions League game 3-0 against Juventus last night.
But while things are going well for Barca, two players in the squad are unhappy.
According to Spanish website Diario Gol, midfielder Denis Suarez and defender Aleix Vidal feel ‘cheated’ by Valverde.
Both players are said to have been promised game-time at the Nou Camp this season by the Barcelona boss, who replaced Luis Enrique in the summer.
But 23-year-old Suarez has made just three appearances so far this season, with them all coming off the bench.
And right-back Vidal, 28, has lost his place to summer signing Nelson Semedo.
Diario Gol claim Valverde told Spanish youngster Suarez he had a part to play this season but he is starting to feel disappointed at his lack of opportunities.
And Vidal has also apparently been assured of opportunities by Valverde, who blocked his deadline day move to Valencia.
The pair are unlikely to get a chance to shine in Barca’s next outing, their trip to Getafe on Saturday (3.15pm).
But Valverde was more interested in praising superstar Lionel Messi after his double helped beat Juventus.
The former Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Espanyol boss said: “You always think when he gets the ball that only good things can happen for the team.
“I suffered a lot when I had to face him and now I’m enjoying him. He was heavily involved in everything.”
Valverde added in quotes reported by Spanish sports paper AS: “We played against one of last season’s finalists, we kept a clean sheet and we scored three goals.
“It was vital to get off to a winning start in the group stage.”
