WARNING SPOILER FOR AVENGERS INFINITY WAR AHEAD
The Avengers are seriously screwed.
At the end of Infinity War, Thanos, the villain won and half the universe died – included a ton of the superheroes.
So what do they do now? Well Marvel‘s Avengers 4 set photos have suggested some sort of time travel or multi-verse crossing.
And some fans believe the Avengers will travel to different points in the past to obtain the Infinity Stones from, well, previous movies and either destroy them or use them to reverse Thanos’ genocide.
But what about the Soul Stone? The most mysterious of the gems was only revealed in Infinity War.
Fans will remember the Red Skull made a shock appearance as the keeper of that gem on the planet Vormir.
How did he get there? Well in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger – set in the 1940s – he was transported there via the Space Stone.
So perhaps Cap will go back in time and grab a hold of the Red Skull, being transported to Vormir with him.
This would see a rematch between the two nemeses but there’s a problem.
Just as Thanos had to sacrifice the one he loved – Gamora – to obtain the Soul Stone, surely Cap would have to do the same?
And who is Steve Rogers most fond of all in all the MCU? One Peggy Carter. Although we can never imagine him making such a move. But sacrifice himself somehow? Absolutely.
Meanwhile Ross Marquand, who played Red Skull in Infinity War hasn’t ruled out returning for Avengers 4.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “I don’t know.
““I can’t speak to that, and I think that I would obviously love to replay that role again anytime.
“It’s such a rich character, especially now that he’s gone to this intergalactic hellscape and he’s found his own prison there…”
Avengers 4 is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
