Alvaro Morata to Man Utd: Real Madrid delay deal by two weeks due to Cristiano Ronaldo
The striker had been hoping to finalise his future ahead of the weekend due to his wedding.
But for now the Spain international remains a Madrid player.
An imminent departure from the Bernabeu has been put on hold following the Cristiano Ronaldo revelations.
Madrid’s superstar forward has informed club president Florentino Perez he wishes to leave Spain amid his allegations of tax fraud.
The decision is said to be ‘irreversible’, and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is looking for the Portugal man’s next club while he is away on international duty at the Confederations Cup.
A return to United is a possibility for Ronaldo, but his uncertain future has left team-mate Morata frustrated.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Perez has urgently stopped his move to Old Trafford, with a two-week delay expected.
The 24-year-old’s agent Juanma Lopez apparently travelled to the Bernabeu believing he would be sealing Morata’s transfer.
Lopez found though that not only are Madrid in no hurry, but the situation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo has complicated matters.
Don Balon add Morata must now wait, with Zinedine Zidane still open to the prospect of keeping him.
However, should Manchester United meet Madrid’s demands of around £79million, the deal should still be done.
Although it now appears a completion date is not likely to be until early July.
So far, Jose Mourinho has only seen one of his summer targets added to his squad in centre-half Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
