The Norway international was named the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2017 and added to her growing list of personal honours tonight.

Hegerberg was voted the Women’s Footballer of the Year at the Balon d’Or awards in Paris tonight.

In a short speech, Hegerberg said: “I want to ask every young woman to believe in themselves.”

But her night turned uneasy after the award’s presenter – Martin Solveig – asked if she would twerk on stage.

She immediately said “non” and walked off stage, leaving PSG and France star Kylian Mbappe shocked.

Asked about the comment after the ceremony, Hegerberg said: “He came to me afterwards and was really sad that it went that way. I didn’t really think about it at the time to be honest.

“I didn’t really consider it a sexual harassment or anything in the moment.

“I was just happy to do the dance and win the Ballon d’Or to be honest. I will have a glass of champagne when I get back, yes.”

Discussing the award, she said: “Being historical and the first woman to win the Ballon d’Or is a huge moment in my life. It felt right to have my teammates with me.

“It is a fantastic team with great characters. I have been at Lyon for four and a half years and it is a special mentality. We live and breathe football and I cherish it.

“It is a fantastic day for women’s football. It is historical and it is important to show young girls that they can believe in themselves and I hope they are inspired by this. They are the future.

“I cherish all awards as they are the result of hard work and self belief but the Ballon d’or is historical. Standing here today is the biggest moment of my life.”

Hegerberg started her career at Sunndal in Norway.

The 23-year-old made her professional debut for Kolbotn in 2010 and played for Stabæk and Potsdam before moving to Lyon.

The striker made her international debut back in 2011 but has been on a break for Norway duty since 2017.

She boasts 66 international appearances for her country, scoring 38 goals.

Solveig, 42, boasts four studio albums.

He has never had a No 1 record in France.

Fans on Twitter were quick to pick up on the DJ’s lurid request.

“Martin Solveig is an absolute disgrace,” one fan wrote.

Another put: “Martin Solveig end of Career, loser…”

A third said: “RIP Martin Solveig’s career.”

And a fourth wrote: “It’s a massive shame Ada Hegerberg wins the first women’s Ballon d’Or and it’s darkened by misogyny. I hope this marks the end of Martin Solveig the utter sleazebag. #ballondor”

In the aftermath of the incident, Solveig’s Wikipedia page was altered to read: “He is also breathtakingly sexist and very lucky not to have been kicked square in the balls by Ada Hegerberg.”
